    De-Cluttering Your Doorway

    • Keep a small wastebasket near the entryway so you can immediately toss out junk mail.

    • Have an in-box to place the items you need to keep (figure A)--bills, etc.

    • A small hook near the door is great to hang your keys on.

    • Keep a decorative plate or bowl out for keys, cell phone and your iPod--or a sectioned container so each family member can store their cell phone (figure B).

    • Have a shoe spot near the door for kids--this eliminates last minute searching, and it keeps the house clean.

    • Set up an outbox for mail, dry cleaning, permission slips (figure C), etc.

    • If you have the space, invest in cubby shelves or storage bins, Each family member would have their own cubby or bin (figure D) for storing their shoes, backpacks, hats, gloves, etc.
