Most of us like to have plants and pets around us. And as comforting as these things are, they can be irritating to our allergies. So here are a couple of suggestions:
- Choose plants wisely: plants with green foliage as opposed to flowers are preferable for people with allergies.
- If you have pets, you need to take some extra pre-cautions if you let them run outside. If you take your dogs for a run in the woods, fields or tall grass, just remember they can pick up allergy-causing mold spores, dried grass, leaves and pollen. It might be fun for the dog -- but not for you. Brush your pet outside, especially after a romp in the great outdoors. Try to give him a bath weekly. If you cant, wipe the coat with a damp microfiber cloth to remove loose hair, dander and dried saliva, all of which contribute to allergy problems.
- Allergy sufferers should avoid cleaning litter boxes. If thats not possible, use a filtration mask, and always dispose of the waste outside.
