    • Oatmeal scrub Combine 1/4 cup oatmeal and 1 tablespoon honey with 1 tablespoon of either buttermilk or yogurt. Mix to a consistency that will sit on the skin without running off, adding more of liquid ingredients if the mixture is too dry or if it clumps (figure A). Massage into the skin, then rinse off.

    • Hand cream Mix 2 parts plant glycerin with 1 part lemon juice (figure B). Shake to mix, and apply to dry hands and skin.

    • Exfoliator Mix olive oil with sugar to a paste consistency. Massage into face, legs, feet, hands, elbows, etc., as needed. Rinse with warm water and pat skin dry.

    • Manicure For longer-lasting nail polish, before applying, dip a cotton swab into vinegar and brush over nails (figure C). The vinegar removes oil from the nail surface, allowing the polish to last longer. Let the vinegar dry on the nails before applying polish.
