From "Talking Dirty With the Queen of Clean"
    episode DQOC-130

It has been said that a clean and organized office is essential for productivity. Of course, at one time or another everyone has a messy office, and although we can't stay organized all the time, if we try to stay organized as much as possible we do get more things accomplished (figure A ). Today we are simplifying office life, cleaning up office messes and getting advice from an office organizational expert on how to make the most of our space (figure B).

A: Wipe the keys off with a damp microfiber cloth or clean them with a Q-tip dipped in rubbing alcohol (figure C).

Q: What is the best way to keep a phone germ-free?

A: Pour antibacterial mouthwash on a cotton ball and wipe over the phone case and keys. Do this on a regular basis, and don't forget to clean cell phones at the same time.

Q: How do you keep computer screens and keyboards dust-free?

A: Use a lambswool duster or mitt, since they attract dust. Never use liquid products on the computer or the keyboard (figure D).

    General Office Cleaning

    • Clean leather briefcases, phone cases and portfolios with leather cleaner/conditioner. Dip a sponge into the cleaner and apply using a circular motion. Buff with a soft cloth.

    • To clean a computer screen and prevent static, mix a solution of 4 parts water to 1 part liquid fabric softener. Spray it on a cloth (never spray the screen) and wipe over the screen.

Tip: To stop receiving junk mail, write to DMA Mail Preference Service, P. O. Box 9008, Farmington, NY 11735-9008. State you want "to activate the preference service."
