    Steve Markovich once kept in shape playing golf, boxing and kickboxing. Now he cleans. Since becoming a parent, he has learned to incorporate the conditioning moves of his favorite sports into his daily cleaning activities.

    • Warm-up includes stretching the legs (a move necessary in kickboxing) while picking up toys from the floor (figure A).

    • He performs abdominal exercises by hooking his feet under the edge of the couch and doing twisting sit-ups.

    • He works out the deltoids and legs, incorporating both horizontal and vertical moves, while he's dusting with mitts (figure B).

    • Markovitch "curls" the sofa to work triceps and biceps (figure C).

    • He uses vacuuming, including back-and-forth and dipping-down motions, to tone the midsection.

    Workout Tip: Put baking soda or a fabric softener sheet in your gym bag to keep it fresh.
