Q: How do you remove a stain from a marble sink? Cream of tartar and lemon juice have not removed the stain.A: Sometimes marble stains are permanent. Try heating the marble with a blow dryer, then drip hydrogen peroxide on the stain. Cover the area with plastic wrap, tape and leave in place for 24 hours to see if the stain lifts. Check the chapter on marble in Talking Dirty with the Queen of Clean for additional marble-care tips.

Removing Decals from the Tub FloorSteps:
1. Place a sheet of aluminum foil over the decals.
2. Heat the foil with a blow dryer (figure A). The longer the decals have been in place, the longer they may have to be heated.
3. Lift the edge of the decal with a dull straightedge, such as a putty knife or a credit card, while keeping heat on the decal (figure B). If the decal is stubborn about lifting, cover with the foil again and continue heating with the hair dryer.
4. After removing the decal, remove any sticky residue with nail-polish remover or denatured alcohol and a scrubbing sponge. Or, for the easiest and most earth-friendly approach, apply a layer of petroleum jelly, let it set overnight and wipe it up the next day.5. Consider testing these products in an inconspicuous area of the tub first before using on the tub floor.
Tip: Use a dry typewriter eraser on dry grout to remove mildew and stains as they appear.
