If you find cleaning window screens a difficult chore, try this fail-safe recipe from the host of Spruce It Up With the Queen of Clean: Outside the Castle, Linda Cobb. Ingredients: 2 Tbs. liquid dishwashing soap 1/4 cup ammonia 2 Tbs. borax Place these ingredients in a bucket with warm water. - Soak the screen up with a wet sponge and then dip the sponge in the solution and really suds up the screens.
- Place a rag on the ground and tap the window screen on the rag (figure A) to get the soapy dirty water off.
- Rinse the screens and then place back on the windows once they are dry.
