The floor covering is a three-step process, with the bond coating done during the prep work. The same color will be put on the floor, with flakes of color added to give dimension and the look of an expensive stone-flecked terrazzo floor.

    Project time: 3 hours.

    Materials
    Floor-coating materials
    Paintbrushes and long-handled roller
    Safety glasses
    Mask
    Bucket

    Steps

    1. To begin the second step of the flooring, mix the appropriate materials in a large bucket and stir. Make sure to read the directions to find the recommended temperature and humidity for applying this type of product.

    2. Paint the edges of the floor first, again working in small sections. After painting a section of the trim, roll out the floor in that area; for even distribution roll out the flooring in an M and a W pattern.

    3. Hand-broadcast the decorative flakes over the rolled out flooring while it's still wet (figure A). To distribute the flakes evenly, throw them high in the air, like throwing confetti.

    4. Continue working in sections until the floor is covered (figure B).
