    Materials:

oblong basket or tray (2" deep, 10"x18")
    florist foam sheets

    hot glue
    utility sheers
6-8 different kinds of dried flowers

    1. Cut the foam sheets (figure A) to fit snugly into the bottom of the basket. Use florist sticky clay to hold the foam securely in the bottom of the basket.

    2. Cover the foam with reindeer moss (figure B). Use hot glue to keep it in place.

    3. Visually divide the basket into six or eight equal sections.

    4. Determine the placement of the flowers in each section. Keep in mind the colors and textures of the flowers to keep them separated.

    5. Begin with the tallest flowers (not including the stem). This will determine the height of all of the sections of flowers.

    6. Break or cut the stem to the desired length.

    7. At one corner of the section, insert the stem into the foam. Trying to keep the flowers in rows, continue to insert the flowers until the section is filled (figure C). Tip: If any of the flowers seem loose, use hot glue on the stem and reinsert into the foam.

    8. For the remaining flower sections, determine the length of the stems based on the height of the first type of flower. Make sure to cut the stems long enough to keep the flowers at the same height, plus an inch or so to insert into the foam.

    9. Use a small-leaved and bushy dried greenery to create a border around the outside edge of the container—hiding the lengths of the stems in each section.
