    Materials:

    1. Fill a terra cotta pot with sand, and then push the tube into the sand to stand up.

    2. Use utility shears to cut the coconut liner into half (figure A).

    3. From a cut edge of one wedge, pull the liner apart separating it into a half circle. Cut this half circle in half at the fold to create two wedges.

    4. Wrap a piece of the coconut liner around the top of the tube, covering all of the cardboard around the top (figure B). Use heavy duty tape to hold the coconut liner to the tube—taping below the coconut liner onto the tube.

    5. Place a point of a second piece of coconut liner over the tape that is securing the first piece of liner. Wrap the other two points around the tube, and then secure as before with a piece of tape onto the tube.

    6. Continue the layering of the pieces, always putting the point of a piece of liner over the taped area of the previous piece of liner. Note: When you get close to the bottom, it may be necessary to pull the tube out of the sand to place the final piece of tape. Push the tube back into the sand when complete.

    7. Use small scraps of the coconut liner in the sand to cover any exposed tape.

    8. Place the palm leaf bush into the top hole of the tube (figure C). Note: If it's windy, it may be necessary to secure the stem of the bush to the inside of the tube with a piece of tape.
