    1. Trace the patterns onto contact paper and cut out the designs.

    2. Peel away the backing on the patterns and adhere to the glass bottles.

    3. Using masking tape, make a border around the pattern on all four sides (figure A).

DIY Tip: Cut the tape with decorative scissors to create a unique border edge.

    4. Before using the etching cream, put on latex gloves, safety glasses and open a window for ventilation.

    5. Lather the etching cream around the shape using a sponge brush (figure B). Cover the entire area within the taped border. This is going to create the reverse etching look.

Expert Tip: You can personalize any glass item by etching a design that reflects your personality. An easy way to do this is by using precut stencils or even letters for monograms.

    6. Allow the etching cream to sit for about five minutes. Peel off the masking tape border and rinse the bottle in water, using a sponge if necessary to remove all the etching cream. Then pat the bottle dry and pull off the pattern (figure C).

Tip: Read package directions as different brands may have different activation times.

    7. Using a funnel, pour the linen spray into the glass bottle. You can add a special touch by wrapping the spray nozzle with pink ribbon (figure D).

Jeanne Tip: Linen spray is perfect for giving your room or your sheets a fresh scent. You can also add it to the water in your steam iron to perk up your clothes.

    8. Along with the linen spray bottles for your guest, you can give them each a Mend 'n Tend Kit (figure E).

Into each kit place the following:

    Organza bags
    Mini scissors
    Several mini spools of thread
    Buttons
    Tape measure
    Hem tape
    Needles
    Safety pins
