 Peanut Butter Banana Swirls
|
|
Peanut Butter/Banana SwirlsIngredients for the Peanut Butter Dough -- 4 cups whole wheat flour 1/2 cup cornmeal 1-1/3 cups water 1/3 cup peanut butter 1 egg Ingredients for the Banana Dough -- 4 cups whole wheat flour 2/3 cup cornmeal 1/2 cup mashed banana 1 egg 1-1/4 cup water 2 Tbs. vegetable oil 2 Tbs. molasses 2 Tbs. cinnamon Preparation: Mix ingredients for each dough until the dough starts to hold together. Flour your work surface and use a rolling pin to roll the dough flat, still keeping the two dough's separate. Start with a rectangle shape because each layer of dough should end up about 20" by 12" and 1/8" thick. Brush the banana dough with a little bit of water. Roll the peanut butter dough up on a rolling pin and transfer it to the top of the banana dough. Square the edges of the layered dough's with a knife. Brush the top with water. Roll the wide side up until you run out of dough. Cut the roll in half and cover both halves with plastic wrap. Place the rolls in the refrigerator to chill for an hour. Cut the chilled rolls into 1/4" slices. Place on a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Expert Tip: When making cookies, always make an extra batch. You can either freeze or keep the other batch refrigerated and you have a cookie to go every time. You can also keep little pieces of parchment handy so you can bake one cookie in a toaster oven and then you can have a cookie any time you want. Expert Tip: Great foods to feed dogs are vegetables and fruits. Cut them up into small pieces and carry them in plastic containers with you. Another thing dogs love is yogurt, and you can give them a couple of spoonfuls as a great treat.
