    Personalized Plates

Note: The plates need to be made three to four days before the party.

    1. Using a compass, make a 4" circle on the patterned paper, and cut out the circle.

    2. Write guest's name on floral sticker and attach a sticker to circle.

    3. Lather center of plate with decoupage glue (figure A).

    4. Press 4" circle to glued area of plate.

    5. Completely cover paper circle and any exposed glass with glue.

    6. Cover plate with a napkin and smooth down. Make sure it overlaps the rim of the plate.

Note: Make sure to press out any air bubbles, wrinkles or folds in the napkins.

    7. Apply more glue to the entire surface of the plate. Brush the glue from the center of the plate, going just a bit beyond the edge.

Expert Tip: Decoupage glue is great because not only can it can work as your adhesive, it can also serve as your sealer.

    8. Take the excess of the napkin and fold it under the plate (figure B).

    9. Allow the plate to dry for at least 4 hours.

Note: If you live in a humid climate, allow extra drying time.

    10. After the plate has dried, use a craft knife to cut away the excess napkin from the rim of the plate.

    11. Keep the plate upside down for another 48 hours so the glue can cure. Be sure not to get the plate wet during this time.

Note: If the plate gets wet before the glue has time to cure, the napkin will not adhere to the plate.
