Take-Home Serenity-Kit Table- Place a tablecloth on the table and the put a piece of fabric on top and fold it under around the edges.
- Cut notch in bamboo using a jig saw.
- Attach bamboo to large tray using florist clay (figure A), with the notches facing the front.
- Fill the tray with play sand and rake it evenly around the bamboo, and cover the bamboo base with wheat grass and rocks (figure B).
Expert Tip: Wheat grass can really give a beautiful effect to either a buffet or a centerpiece. You want to make sure that you wash the dirt out of the roots first. - Flow orchids out of notches using florist clay to hold in place (figure C).
Expert Tip: Once in a while, when you set up decorations for the table, don't fill the table with just flowers -- do something in a Zen style. Cut a few stems of green, use orchids, bamboo, and black river rocks. While it is very appealing, it makes a statement at the same time. - The take-home serenity kit starts with a tin pail. Then, offer affirmations, eye pillows, candles, etc. Guests can take these items home and enjoy for a long time. Arrange gifts in wooden trays and spread around table. You can even have small wooden trays, sand, miniature wooden rakes, river rocks, etc. so guests can take supplies home to make their own small Zen garden. Make the incense description cards and affirmation cards on parchment paper using a brown calligraphy pen. Set votive candles randomly around the table and gifts.
