    1. Cut fabric in two rectangles, each measuring 36" x 22".

    2. To make a casing for the drawstring, fold and press 1/4" toward the wrong side of the fabric, and then double fold another inch (figure A) and press again. Make sure the edges line up evenly.

    3. Place a straight pin approximately every 5" along the fold. Sew along the fold, close to the edge (making sure there is room to work the cording through). Stitch a nice straight line because this will be seen. Then, with the right sides together, sew down the long side of the bag, across the bottom of the bag, and then up the other long side. Backstitch to strengthen the end stitches.

    4. Turn the bag right out.

Expert Tip: When choosing thread for your fabric, it is sometimes hard to get the exact same color of thread. If you are using a darker fabric, it is usually safest to go just a touch darker with the thread; if you are using a medium to lighter color, it is best to go a shade lighter.

    5. Put a large safety pin through the end of the cording and use that pin to pull the cording through the casing (figure B). Pull cording all the way through and down to the end of the bag, making sure the top of the bag is open.

    6. At bottom corner of the seam side of bag, grab both parts of the fabric and cut a small "X" about one inch from the edges. Insert grommet and secure according to grommet package directions (figure C).

    7. Thread one end of cord through grommet and tie both ends of cord together. Use anti-fray substance on each cut end of cord.
