David's mannequin headdress was easily put together using a plastic helmet, fabric and jewelry.

- Using a kid's plastic helmet, cut off the side pieces to create a more elegant line for the headdress base (figure A).
- Drill a hole into the top of the helmet using a hole cutter. This is for the plant fronds to come through.
- Using pliers, bend the wire stemmed fronds two inches from the point you want them poking through the hole and at a 45 degree angle.
- Use duct tape as a layer over the entire helmet.
- Apply a layer of glue two inches around the underside of the hole and lay in the fronds so that gravity keeps them against the plastic and pressing down is not necessary. Try taping 3-5 fronds together and gluing down the tape as one bunch.
- Re-apply another layer or re-glue any that did not stick. Keep working with it until you achieve a semi-flat surface that will sit on the head. Also, try additional layers of tape.
- Using duct tape, bunch the fronds on top right above the hole and just the width of the tape.
- Hot glue sequined fabric over the duct tape covered helmet and the part of the fronds that are duct taped.
- Adorn with additional sequins, glitter paint, jewels and beads. Try cutting up old sequined gowns for their parts.
