    Mini Ottomans:

    1. Clean four round metal trash bins.

    2. Paint and allow to dry.

    3. Measure the bottom side of the cans.

    4. Draw circles (figure B) with a radius of one inch wider than the can bottom onto the MDF.

    5. Use a jigsaw to cut out four circles.

    6. Sand the edges until they are smooth.

    7. Measure and cut foam to the size of each circle (figure C).

    8. Screw the MDF to the bottoms of the trashcans, and then bolt together.

    9. Attach the foam to the MDF using spray adhesive.

Safety Note: Always use eye protection and a mask when using spray adhesive.

    10. Measure the fabric circle to the size of the foam top--adding about a 1/2" for the seam allowance.

    11. Measure the circumference and width of the perimeter of the foam area, and then measure and mark the fabric adding about a 1/2" for the seam allowance.

    12. Cut the fabric.

    13. Sew a band around the circle of fabric (figure D) inside-out in order to hide the seam.

    14. Place the fabric atop the foam circle.

    15. Staple the fabric into place around the circle (figure E) alternating sides in order to ensure even placement of the fabric.
