Room Divider- Begin with an accurate measurement of the space in which the divider will be situated, and then cut a dowel to size.
- Hang the dowel in place or in an area that will allow you to work on the divider.
- Decide on an order for the ties. Take into consideration color, patter and shape.
- Begin to attach the ties to the dowel (figure A).
- Once you have the top row tied on, decide how many ties you wish to be full length based on the size of the space you are dividing.
- Pin the ties to one another to get an idea of pattern and look (figure B).
- Once the look has been established, cut the ends of the ties that are to be hanging and insert the cut end into the preceding tie.
- Staple the ties together, hiding the staples as much as possible.
- Repeat until the tie room divider is to your satisfaction.
Project Expense: Ties and Tacks: $45 Dowel, anchors, stain: $20 Total: $65
