    Figure A

Make a unique occasional table from water bottles topped with glass (figure A). Artist Rosemary Watson shows how.

    Materials:

    Nineteen 1-1/2-liter water bottles
    Silver electrical cord
    Turpentine
    Optional: food coloring
Round piece of heavy-duty glass for tabletop

    1. Remove the labels from the water bottles. Use turpentine to remove any gummy residue left on the bottles.

    2. Arrange the bottles on the floor, nestling them together in five rows to form a hexagon-shaped table base.

    3. Tie a piece of silver electrical cord around the bottles to hold them in place. Cut the plastic off the ends of the cord in order to tie a nice tight knot.

    4. Add food coloring to the bottles, if desired. Replace the bottle caps.

    5. Set a piece of round glass on the bottles to make a table.
