Create a clever bookshelf with this great idea DIY Decorating & Design host Nancy Golden found in Decorating Ideas magazine: attach an old book to the wall with L brackets, and use it to display favorite collectibles. Materials:
Book
Two L brackets and hardware
Construction glue
Clamp
Screwdriver
- Apply construction adhesive to the bottom of one leg of each of the L brackets, and set them in place inside the back cover of the book (figure A). Close the book and clamp tightly until the glue is dry (figure B).
- When the glue is dry, remove the clamp and attach the shelf to the wall (figure C). Secure the L brackets to wall studs for support, or use wall anchors if you're attaching the brackets to dry wall.
- Stack the shelf with another book and other decorative accessories as desired.
