Materials: Self-adhesive lampshade Silk fabric (color of your choice -- purple was used for this project) Acrylic metallic paint (gold was used for this project) Trims Beads - The lampshade comes with a pattern that peels off. Trace the pattern onto the fabric or paper. Tip: Cut out the fabric about an inch larger than the pattern.
- Wrap the fabric around the sticky lampshade, starting at the seam (figure A). Roll it around for a tight fit, trim and adjust if necessary.
- Select the design you wish to use and enlarge it on a copier to the appropriate size.
- Transfer the pattern to the lampshade using transfer paper (figure B). Place paper right side down and position pattern over it. Trace pattern, using a firm touch.
- Paint in the design. Newman used three different shades of metallic gold for the monogram (figure C). Paint pens could also be used.
- Add trim to the top and bottom. Newman glued braid at the top and beads at the bottom. She covered the black base of the beading with another piece of braiding.
Products: All materials can be found at craft and fabric stores.
