Materials: Two 3"x5"x4" adhesive lampshades with candle clip Paper yarn: - 4-ply twisted-paper yarn in yellow, one skein
- 1-ply twisted-paper yarn in yellow, two skeins
Scissors Spray bottle with water Ruler Glue - Remove the protective wrapping from the shade. Beginning at the lower edge of the shade at the seam, carefully wrap the 1-ply yarn around the shade so that each coil touches the preceding one, pressing the yarn firmly into the adhesive surface (figure A).
- When you reach the end of the skein, flatten out the end and overlap the end of the next skein so that there appears to be one continuous piece. Tip: You may need to add a drop of glue to secure the ends to each other.
- Continue wrapping until the entire shade is covered, finishing the last coil smoothly around the upper edge of the shade.
Note: To create a two-color yarn-wrapped lampshade, simply start with the first color at the bottom of the self-adhesive lampshade, then when you want the second color to begin, overlap the previous yarn (figure B) and continue to wrap as many lines as desired. The key is to overlap as seen in figure B. Tip: - To decorate these yarn-wrapped lampshades, roll up any leftover yarn in any design desired, then simply glue the design on the lampshade.
