Desiree Motamedi would love for her bedroom to be awash in colors just as tranquil as the calming hues beyond her windows...and she'd also like to find a way to create a funky dining area at the same time. To fulfill her goals, The Fresh Coat team begins by painting the stark white bedroom walls a soft lavender, keeping the look light, fresh and airy. Adhesive stencils with a slight Eastern flair will be applied randomly to the dining area of the room (figure A). Next, they'll roll a deeper shade of smoky lavender on the walls and pull the stencils to reveal the lighter shade beneath. This will serve to separate the room with a gentle color and pattern variation.
