  • Plum Play Room: Vertical Blinds and Coffee Table
  • To make a dull room a play room, the vertical blinds get painted stripes and the coffee table load of color.
    From "Fresh Coat"
    episode DFCT-310

The dated white vertical blinds are definitely an eyesore in the Weinerth's downstairs room, so the Fresh Coat painters make them a much more subtle element by painting them in a stripe pattern (figure A).

Another playful painted element? The coffee table, with four added bands of color; including lime green, spruce green, sky blue and periwinkle (figure B). The painters then use a simple bottle with a squeeze spout, like you find in the travel section of the drug store, to squeeze an irregular, playful circle pattern over the stripes.

    For vertical blinds:

    Materials:

    screwdrivers
    masks
    ground cloth
    3 Cans X-I-M Clear Primer
    spray nozzles
    Benjamin Moore 985 Indian River
    Benjamin Moore 2107-40 Driftwood
    small trays
    small rollers

    1. Remove blinds from walls and lay out flat.
    2. Spray entire surface with X-I-M Clear primer (figure C). Let dry.
    3. Roll on 985 Indian River and 2107-40 Driftwood creating a striped effect (figure D). Let dry.
