Here the Fresh Coat painters tackle the paneling above the mantel, first cutting a piece of art board to fit the space and coating it in a natural white to gently contrast the border stripe and window trim. Using cake-frosting tips, they squeeze three-dimensional stencil paste onto the board and draw vines, leaves and flowers to resemble a traditional crewelwork pattern (figure A).
Materials:illustration board utility knife cutting surface measuring tape pencil straight edge 6" roller small tray transfer paper crewel pattern Benjamin Moore's OC-100 Palace White Delta Texture Magic: Bungalow Blue, French Blue, Eucalyptus, Spring Green and Country Red
1. Cut a piece of thick illustration board to fit the panel above the mantle. 2. Roll on a solid coat of OC-100 Palace White. Let dry. 3. Place transfer paper face down on the board and trace over the crewel pattern with a pencil (figure B). Remove paper to reveal the pattern (figure C).
4. Using Delta Texture Magic Dimensional Paint with cake decorating tips trace the pattern to create the look of a piece of crewel (figures D and E). Allow to dry thoroughly.
5. Using small tack nails, attach the illustration board to the space above the mantle (figure F).
