To create a bit of Spanish flair with an art project, the Fresh Coat team cuts a length of prepared artist's canvas and paints it rich red with big generous brush strokes. Other steps include stenciling on an allover baroque wallpaper pattern and using lightweight wall spackle mixed with creamy tan paint and a plastic spreader for a three-dimensional effect. Reflecting vivacious Spanish patterns and colors and rustic textures, the canvas edges are left raw....
Materials:canvas utility knife and scissors measuring tape and straight edges, levels pencil 2004 Deep Rose 2-inch brushes small tray stencils 3-D stencil stuff plastic spreaders 2133-10 Onyx and glaze (Benjamin Moore brand)
- Measure rough size above fireplace.
- Measure and cut canvas.
- Paint roughly with 2004-10 deep rose and let dry.
- Lay out first set of stencils, trowel on 3-D stencil medium, and let dry (figure A).
- Lay out second set of stencils and trowel on and let dry.
- Add a rough free hand black border and glaze with brown or black (figure B).
