The rustic charm begins with walls painted in gold with deep burgundy at the bottom as Bear and Kate initiate the work of remodeling a Victorian-style kitchen....
For the top part of the walls:The object is to brush on heavy strokes of golden tan paint in heavy vertical and horizontal patches all over, then roll paint glaze mix with the same heavy vertical and horizontal patches, filling in the white areas. Materials: rosin paper painters tape level large brushes cutting brushes foam rollers paint trays paint mugs paint can visor Glaze Chestertown Buff, HC-9 (Benjamin Moore brand) Cork, 2153-40
- Rosin paper floor (figure A).
- Tape floorboards, trim.
- Paint large patches of vertical and horizontal colors, Cork 2153-40 (figure B).
- Roll on patches of paint (HC-9) glaze mix, filling in white areas.
- Let dry completely.
- Splatter Mustang, 2111-30, mixed with a little glaze and drag through vertically and horizontally with a dry brush to create texture.
For the base boards: Once the walls are dry the Fresh Coat team splatters deep brown paint all over and then uses a dry brush to add depth and variety. After that, a horizontal line is measured and taped off and a deep burgundy brown rolled below the tape to ground the room and provide a rich dark contrast.
Materials:chalk line measuring tape painters tape box brush paint trays 6" rollers angled brushes Fresh Clay, 2093-20 (Benjamin Moore brand)
- Using chalk-line snap a line around the room at the height of the windowsill.
- Tape just above line and sweep away chalk dust.
- Roll on 2093-20 Fresh Clay. Roll a second coat if necessary.
