An artwork project that grows with the child is the perfect finishing touch for 8-year-old Sophia's new bedroom.
Materials (painted frame):level painter's tape double-sided tape pencil clear varnish small brush sponge brush Benjamin Moore eggshell finish paint (2072-50, Lavender Lipstick) Benjamin Moore eggshell finish paint (500, Maidenhair Fern) 1. Shannon tapes off two squares, centered between two of the windows, to make frames for Sophia's paint-by-number animal paintings. She again seals the tape edges with varnish (figure A) (figure B). 2. She paints the frames Maidenhair Fern and Lavender Lipstick, and when they're dry she attaches Sophia's artwork to the frames with double-stick tape (figure C).
The room is put back together. Sophia's bedroom has a much more stylish look but still has very playful elements that appeal to a young girl, all achieved for just $30 in paint (figure D) (figure E).
