Sophia's bedroom makeover is under way: the lower walls have been painted a soft shade of lavender and are ready for the nature stamps that will decorate the upper portion of the walls.
Materials (wall stamp) (figure A):pencil level stamps: 1 leaf, 1 flower painter's tape Benjamin Moore paint (132, Tangerine Zing) Benjamin Moore eggshell finish paint (2072-40, Wild Orchid) Benjamin Moore eggshell finish paint (500, Maidenhair Fern) small roller or brush Materials (bed frame: Rust-Oleum® Metallic Pale Gold spray paint Benjamin Moore eggshell finish paint (2072-50, Lavender Lipstick) Benjamin Moore eggshell finish paint (500, Maidenhair Fern) Benjamin Moore paint (132, Tangerine Zing) 1. Using a pencil and level, a staggered pattern is marked off every 15" along the walls. At each point, a small piece of painter's tape is placed on the wall for easy visual reference. The finished pattern will draw the eye around the room, making the space appear bigger and brighter.
2. A thin layer of paint is rolled over the stamps (leaf paint is Maidenhair Fern and flower paint is Wild Orchid) before pressing them, in an alternate pattern using even pressure, to the wall (figure B) (figure C).
3. Tangerine Zing paint, applied to the center of the purple flowers, helps pop the purple and green colors (figure D). 4. The bed frame is moved outside to a well-ventilated area and sprayed with Metallic Pale Gold paint. Protective masks are worn to protect against paint fumes (figure E).
5. New finials are added to the bed and the scrollwork is accented with the same colors used in the room.
