Rearranging furniture you already have is a great way to get a new look inexpensively. Interior designer Ken Binder shows Room for Change host JoAnne Liebeler how rearranging furniture and adding a few accessories can create an entirely new look in the bedroom of a high-rise condo. This bedroom is a lovely, good-sized room with large windows and separate areas for sleeping and conversation. Bay windows surround the conversation area, and a sliding glass door next to the sleeping area leads to a balcony. The conversation seating, originally in the bay-window area (figure A), is interchanged with the original sleeping area (figure B). The result is a cozy new setting for the bed and a seating/conversation area with easy accessibility to the balcony. The pretty pink-and-green color scheme, perfect for spring and summer, is warmed up for the winter months with deeply colored and heavily patterned fabric and accessories. A dark-green damask-patterned bedspread adds a warm masculine touch that blends well with the feminine florals.
