John's workshop is almost finished: the walls, window and desk have all been refreshed with innovative paint treatments. Now all that's left is painting the raw wood display shelves.
Materials (shelving):sandpaper tack cloth 4" rollers artist's brush small trays primer (Grenadier Pond) semigloss paint (Grenadier Pond)paint (Castleton Mist--MC-1) 1. The shelves are sanded and wiped clean with a tack cloth (figure A). 2. Foam rollers are used to roll Grenadier Pond primer over the shelves (figure ).
3. When the primer is dry, a coat of Grenadier Pond semigloss paint is rolled over the shelves. This soft, foamy green shade continues the color on two of the wall circle quadrants; the semigloss finish will provide a protective surface for the wood. 4. When the paint is dry, using an artist brush, the shelving edges are painted Castleton Mist, the same color as the window Plexiglas panels (figure C). 5. While the paint dries, the room is put back together and the window panels are attached with small suction cups.
This once-boring office (figure D) is now a cool, creative workshop done in just two days using $190 worth of paint (figure E).
