The family crafter needs space for work and storage, so next up we'll be building any crafter's dream: a handy wall-mounted craft table that folds out of the way when it's not in use.
1. Measure the wall for the table placement and transfer those measurements to the board. Make tick marks and, using a level, draw a straight line showing where to cut.2. Cut out the board that will soon become the craft table with a circular saw.
3. As the table will be hanging on the wall (figure A), it will need a decorative element. So begin cutting out mailbox lettering with a craft knife and a straightedge (we spelled create, but you can do any word you'd like). Once all of the letters are cut out, measure for the wording placement. We are measuring down 12" from the top and 13-1/2" from each side to center the wording.4. Peel the backing off the letters and stick them on the table. Once all the letters have been applied, begin painting the table, making sure to cover all of the letters and painting the edges. 5. For the table legs, line up a mounting flange in the corner and screw it into place. Continue working your way around all four corners 6. In two corners, use a 1/2" spade bit to drill out two centers of the mounting plates. We are preparing to hang the table on the wall. 7. After the holes are drilled, measure the distance between the two and transfer those measurements to the wall. 8. Predrill the marks and screw in the doorstops. Hang the table and go ahead and peel the letters off. Expert tip: If you're really pressed for space, remove the door from a closet, add shelving and a desktop, and you've got a perfect craft area. Expert tip: A tall craft table allows more space underneath for storage. Pair it with a barstool rather than a chair.
