If you prefer, your pot rack can be hung from the ceiling instead of mounted on the wall.

Decorative organizer Pat Moore demonstrates how to use space and ingenuity to make your kitchen more practical and attractive. Instead of hiding pots and pans in a cupboard, hang them, and make them part of the decor.

Make a simple pot rack by hanging a wooden closet rod from metal rod brackets installed in the wall. Finish the ends of the rod with decorative knobs, and add a shelf to the top of the unit if desired.

    Materials:

    Wooden closet rod and brackets
    Drill
    Two double-ended screws
    Two screw-on knobs
Paint or stain and appropriate tools
Optional: shelf to top pot rack
    S hooks

    1. Insert a double-ended screw in each end of the rod, and attach a knob to each end (figure A).

    2. Paint or stain the rod and knobs as desired.

    3. Install the rod brackets on the wall, making sure to screw them into wall studs to support the weight of the items that will hang from the rod.

    4. Hang pots from the rod with S hooks (figure B).

    5. Attach a shelf to the top of the unit if desired.

To hang a pot-rack rod from the ceiling instead of wall brackets, screw eyebolts into the rod, attach a length of chain to each screw eye, and hang from eyebolts installed in the ceiling joists.
