A flea market find becomes the focal point of the nearly renovated dining room with just the stroke of a paintbrush.
Materials:straight brushes clear primer Benjamin Moore paint (BM 2170-20, Tropical Orange) varnish 1. The glass panels on the tabletop are taped off to protect them from paint bleed.
2. Sand or prime table, if necessary. If priming, mix primer with Tropical Orange paint for a better first coat.3. The table is painted with a coat of Tropical Orange paint; the color will bring modern energy and offset the darker blue walls, keeping the room fun and bright. 4. When dry, a coat of clear varnish is applied to the paint finish; it will not protect the paint but also give a shiny finish to the painted surface (figure A). The room is put back together with new draperies and furnishings that are less feminine than the original ones. The rest of the room goes back together as it was before, but the new space is hardly recognizable. Before, the room was colorless and overly feminine; now the stage is set for sleek dinner parties with this vibrant cosmopolitan look (figure B) (figure C) (figure D).
