The 1995 Philharmonic House of Design is a multimillion-dollar house in Orange County, California. Each year the Design House event raises money to fund music education for more than 250,000 schoolchildren. Each room in this 6,500-square-foot home was decorated by a different designer. Interior designer Gene Zettle decorated the large foyer of this home to be both inviting and comfortable. A low-hanging light fixture prevented the traditional placement of a large presentation table in the foyer, which led to the inspired idea of decorating the foyer in the style of a French salon, with a settee, upholstered chairs and several tables.
