The classic Santa Fe adobe of artist Forrest Moses is filled with country furnishings of many types. Although it wasn't necessarily his intention to focus on country, he's found himself drawn to the simple form and relaxed philosophy of country things. As a landscape painter, he goes out into the fields and mountains, bringing all the elements of nature into his work. His home and work are integrated, both reflecting his changing vision and his love of nature. His furnishings, collected piece by piece, play off one another, each suggesting the addition of another. A single item can change his vision. Often he'll try out a new piece to see whether it belongs. Once in place, it speaks to him and lets him know whether it should stay or go. Natural country furniture is easy to live with and becomes more beautiful with use. It's made to be scrubbed, polished, waxed and oiled. Don't worry about little scratches: just put a little oil on them, and allow the piece to age and grow richer-looking with use. A traditional kiva fireplace warms the corner of the library, which is filled with books and art. A curly-maple daybed and Eames chairs provide comfortable seating.
