This soon-to-be spectacular guest space has one natural light source: beautiful wood-trimmed French doors (figure A). Since the northeast exposure doesn't require a lot of privacy -- and doesn't have outside lighting reflecting through the windows -- lace panels are used for the window treatments. 6. Since this fixture plugs in, the cord is covered with decorative fabric (figure B). Shades with eyelash fringe and crystals create a fun, fanciful look.

    7. The sconce for the kitchen is black iron with an organic leaf pattern, and sandblasted glass shades. It will provide ambient lighting in the kitchen/dining area.

    Time elapsed: 8 hours.
