Sandwich photographs between glass panels and frame with wood strips for a lighter-than-air decorating scheme.

DIY Decorating and Design host Nancy Golden demonstrates how to make picture frames that seem to float in midair. At a stained-glass store buy four lengths of wood framing with a u-shaped channel; have the store miter the corners for you. Clamp three corners and countersink a screw in each (a countersink bit enables you to bury the head of the screw so it won't show). Use small wood plugs to fill up the holes, adhering each with wood glue. Mount two photos back to back between two pieces of Plexiglas, using clear picture corners to adhere the photos. Sandwich the Plexiglas sheets together. Slip the Plexiglas into the three-sided frame and attach the top strip, screwing it as you did the other three. Attach an eye screw at either end of the top of the frame and use s-hooks and chain to hang the frame. For added stability, you can also add eye hooks at the bottom and secure the frame at the bottom in the same way you did at the top.
