  • Quick Tip: Pets/Boredom

If your pet is tearing up the house, the odds are he's getting bored. You can usually solve this problem by giving your pet more attention. Since you can't always be home to entertain your pet, put the television on a channel you think the pet will enjoy while you're gone. Nowadays, there are also videos made especially for pets at almost any pet store and dogs and cats really seem to like them. Or maybe just leave the stereo on. This may sound extreme, but you can also phone home a few times a day so your pet can hear the sound of your voice over the message machine. To provide a distraction for your cat, spray some catnip on one of her favorite toys. For a dog, consider a special chew toy that he only gets when you're leaving, not when you're at home. And think about getting another pet. A playmate can do wonders for a bored animal.
