    Figure A
    German Chalet Construction

    1. Cut the 60x60 piece of 3/4" plywood to 54-3/8 x 54-3/8 square (figure A). Remember to wear safety glasses while cutting the materials.

    2. Next, measure 30-3/8" from one corner, and make a mark. Then, measure 30-3/8" from the corner diagonal from the first corner, along the side perpendicular to the side where you made the first mark.

    3. Measure in 11" from these marks and make a mark, and make a second mark at 24" in. Each side's second marks should intersect each other. With this point as the center, draw a circle 26" in diameter. The circle should intersect the marks made at 11".

    4. Draw a line from each of your original marks at 30-3/8" to the 11" mark where they intersect the circle. Use the jigsaw to cut along each of these lines, and then cut along the circle between the two previous cuts.

    5. Next, cut the gabled wall. Cut two 3/4" sheets of the furniture-grade plywood to 30-3/8 x 45-1/2. Along both 45-1/2" sides, make a mark at 22-3/8" for one end, then make a mark at the center of each of the 30-3/8" sides by measuring 15-3/16" on the side.

    6. Draw a line from each of the 22-3/8" marks to the center point at the opposite end. Cut along this line to form the gable.

    7. Measure 30-3/8" from one corner, and make a mark; then measure 30-3/8" from the corner diagonal from the first corner, along the side perpendicular to the side where you made the first mark.

    8. Measure in 11" from these marks and make a mark, and make a second mark at 24" in. The second marks from each side should intersect each other. Use this point as the center, and draw a circle 26" in diameter. The circle should intersect the marks made at 11".

    9. Draw a line from each of your original marks at 30-3/8" to the 11" mark where they intersect the circle. Now, cut along each of these lines with the jigsaw. Then, cut along the circle between the two previous cuts.

    10. Once the walls are cut, cut out the door. On one of the gable ends, draw and cut the door by measuring 8" in each direction along the edge, and make a mark. From each of these marks, draw a line up 15" to mark the sides of the door opening.
