The storage cabinet will keep everything pet-related organized.
    Toby, Annie & Bump

It wasn't that long ago when these three guys had it really rough. All three have pretty special stories. Toby is a retired racing greyhound and was adopted from Greyhound Pets of America. Annie was adopted from the local shelter. Bump followed Todd and Toby home from a walk one day. Signs were put up, but fortunately for the Nelsons, no one ever claimed him.

    • Toby (greyhound): 25"-29" tall, 55-80 lbs, lifespan 13 years

    • Annie (spinone, an Italian pointer): 22.5"-27.5" tall, 61-85 lbs, lifespan 12 or more years

    • Bump (terrier mix): range in size from small to very large but share feisty, energetic personalities.

Dr. Karen Tobias and Kenny Alfonso are on deck to help the Nelsons. Kenny has an idea for an efficient way to store their many pet supplies. Dr. Karen will offer helpful hints and tips for taking care of these three special dogs.

    Dog Storage Unit Plans

The Nelsons need a storage solution for all their pet supplies. They live in a beautiful cottage-style home built in the 1920’s, but in these homes there isn't much counter space. It wouldn't hurt to gain surface work space in the process. Kenny decides to build a kitchen cabinet that holds two kinds of food and a special place for treats. He will work in a place for medication and leashes as well. When he's done, no one will know the kitchen cabinet wasn't part of the original kitchen, the Nelsons will have more counter space and the'll have an organized spot for all their supplies.

The style for their cabinets is very simple so it will be easy to copy. It's a basic box made from three quarter inch shop grade plywood. It will have two doors; a 16 inch door will be attached to a pullout mechanism that will hold the two different kinds of dog food. Then, there will be a six inch door mounted on hinges that will give them more storage for additional supplies.

    Barkitecture Tidbit:

    • It is estimated that the US market will spend $35.9 billion on pets in 2005. $14.5 billion is spent on food alone and the remainder on veterinary care, supplies, animal purchases, grooming and boarding.
