Boss and Luby enjoy their walk.

This is Boss and Luby. They just moved into a wonderful new home. The pair has a beautiful backyard to run around in, but there is one problem...there's no fence. Boss is a big guy so his owners have had to take the dogs outside on leashes. This dilemma will be solved by building a dog run. From building the dog run to tips on caring for the animals, it's all covered in this episode of Barkitecture.
Boss and LubyBoss is a pedigreed Staffordshire terrier. Luby is a Jack Russell Pomeranian mix. Together, they are quite the pair. The dogs are moving into a new home with their owners, Amy Ward and BJ Brock. Amy is actually just starting her new career as a veterinarian. Boss came from a breeder and Luby was adopted from Amy's veterinarian office when he was a puppy. Luby had a broken leg and his original owners didn't have him treated. He was ultimately surrendered. Amy and BJ are currently treating Luby with glucosomine, which has been shown to ease joint discomfort and increase flexibility. Dr. Karen Tobias and Kenny Alfonso are on deck to help Boss and Luby with an area to run free in. A dog run will allow the pair to run free from the leash and the exercise will certainly help Luby's leg. While Kenny is building the dog run, Dr. Karen will offer some helpful hints on caring for the dogs.

The plans for the dog run are set.

Dog Run PlansBJ and Amy have been taking the dogs outside on leashes because there is no fence. This works fine, but it's a shame because they have a beautiful backyard. Kenny has an idea for a dog run! A dog run is a just a fenced area where Boss and Luby can run free. Dog runs are generally not very exciting or very attractive. Kenny has an idea to apply the Barkitecture touch to the design so it will look great and work like a charm. Kenny will start by laying out a base by using eight foot landscaping timbers and landscape fabric. Then, he will build four wall sections using plastic covered fencing to enclose the structure. Two inches of gravel will be strewn throughout and a gate will be built. After the whole thing is assembled, a nice shade structure can be built. The whole thing will be finished off with antibacterial tiling which will be placed on top of the gravel. This dog run is going to look great and be perfect for Luby and Boss. Barkitecture Tidbit: - Dog runs are often created as public spaces in urban areas. In cities such as New York, dog runs are built to offer neighbors and their dogs a place to enjoy the outdoors.
