 A happy life awaits Patches.
|
|
Meet Patches. He is a loving and affectionate beagle in need of a new home and a family he can love. He has only been at the adoption center for a few days, but it looks like his dreams have come true. Before all is said and done, Patches will have a new house and all the amenities a dog could want. It's all here, in this episode of Barkitecture.

The Harshey family showers Patches with love.

Introducing PatchesPatches is a full-blooded beagle and he has had a pretty hard life. The folks at the animal shelter feel that he was abandoned and probably abused. Unfortunately, that can lead to overly timid dogs. With a lot of attention, patience and care, these dogs can make great pets. That's a prescription that Patches is going to get filled by the Harshey family. They have found a place in their hearts just for this special animal. Patches arrived at the Harshey home one afternoon and made himself right at home. The family fell instantly in love with him, but since he wasn't theirs, they decided to take him to the animal shelter to see if anyone claimed him. After waiting for three days, the Harshey family has returned to adopt Patches. Dr. Karen Tobias and Kenny Alfonso are on deck to help the transition from shelter to home a little easier on Patches. Dr. Karen will offer the Harsheys advice for keeping beagles healthy while Kenny will add luxuries to an already built doghouse. Because the family has a doghouse, attention can be directed to making that house a little more "comfortable."

This doghouse will have air-conditioning and heat!

Doghouse PlansPatches is one great dog. After spending time with him, Kenny saw that Patches deserves some comforts in his new home. Kenny looked at the doghouse the Harsheys bought for him and he knew immediately what Patches needed...an air-conditioner, or a fully automatic climate-controlled system. In the summer, Patches can stay cool. In the winter, he can stay warm! Patches will only spend a little time in the doghouse, but once it's finished...he may never want to leave! Doghouses, of course, do not have to have a climate-controlled system, but when the temperature dips or rises, it will make things a lot more comfortable. Kenny will upgrade the doghouse with vent holes to bring in fresh air and a dog door to keep the house nice and cozy. Paver stones will be used as foundation for the house to rest on. Patches may find he enjoys his outside home more than the inside one! Barkitecture Tidbits: - With over 100 animals a day that shelters see, the need for responsible and loving adoptive families is ever increasing. Your choice to bring a pet into your home is one that shouldn't be made lightly. Once your decision has been made, animal adoption centers are great places to start and end your search for a new pet.
- Because of their keen sense of smell, beagles are used by police to track down escaped prisoners and to uncover illegal drugs. There have even been studies that claim some dogs can smell cancer in humans.
