    Dr. Karen’s Health Tips:

There are so many choices for dog food (figure A), so how do you know which one to pick? Dr. Karen says:

    • Look at the food’s label (figure B). You want one of the top three ingredients to be a meat product. Meat helps keep your dog’s coat healthy and shiny.

    • Choose a food that is for your dog’s life stage. Your dog’s life stage is based on it’s age and weight.

    • Dry food is generally better than wet food for dogs. Canned foods are good for dogs that don’t take in a lot of water.

    • The different shapes of kibble are to please the human eye and don’t affect the quality of the food (figure C).

    • Changing brands of foods from time to time is a good idea to assure a healthy, well balanced diet.
