Put your best friend in a good humor with a frozen meatsicle to munch on.

    Boomer Treats

    Materials:

    Empty two-liter beverage bottle
    Masking tape
    Cordless drill
    Kibble, cheese cubes, flavored treats

    1. Reinforce three or four points on the bottle by placing three short strips of tape over each; this will help prevent the formation of sharp edges when the plastic is drilled.

    2. Drill a hole at each taped point (figure A), and smooth out any sharp edges by folding the tape over them.

    Tips:

    • Don't make the holes too big -- a 13/16-inch drill bit is appropriate for most sizes of kibble.

    • Use sandpaper on the edges of the hole, if desired.

    • Fill the bottle with kibble, cheese cubes and flavored treats (putting the kibble in first makes your dog have to work a little harder to get to the "good stuff.). Replace the cap on the bottle.

    Meatsicles

    Beef kidney
    Stewing vegetables
    Cheese cubes
    Stewing beef
Freezer-safe bowl (this will be the mold for the meatsicle)
    Low-sodium chicken broth

    1. Cook meats and vegetables thoroughly; let cool.

    2. Place cooled meats and vegetables in the bowl, add chicken broth and freeze until solid.

    3. Remove from bowl (you may need to run a little hot water over the bowl to loosen the mixture), and the meatsicle is ready for your pooch.
