Just because you're allergic to cats doesn't mean you can't live with them. Take these simple precautions: - Allergic reactions are caused by cat saliva, which cats leave on their fur when they groom. To help cut down on the saliva, clean their fur from time to time. Since cats generally don't like baths, try giving them sponge-baths with distilled water, or use special pet-wipes to clean them.
- Frequent brushing helps get rid of excess. Also, keep your cat off the bed -- the hair they leave there can cause reactions.
- Vacuum, dust and mop often, and consider investing in a HEPA filter.
