Norwegian forest cats' eyes turn down toward the nose.

Norwegian forest cats are one of the oldest known breeds; in fact, their origin is unknown. We do know that they were popular with the Vikings and that they predate Persian cats by centuries. In Norway there are still folk stories of long-haired cats that roamed that country's forests in search of rats.

In 1930 the breed was brought back to the U. S. and is now regaining its popularity.
