    Persians are one of the most popular cat breeds.

    The Persian's ancestors were imported from Turkey hundreds of years ago. They are known for their exotic beauty.

    Personality Traits

    • Sweetly dispositioned

    • Affectionate

    • Cuddly

    • Laid back.

    Physical Characteristics

    • Round face

    • Wide-set eyes with "eyeliner"

    • Short legs and body

    • Round head

    • Long, thick, silky hair.

    Grooming

    • Brush daily to avoid tangles.

    • Wash with baby shampoo.

    • Blow-dry and comb with a wide-toothed comb, followed by a brush.

    Notes: Persians shed a lot of hair, which can mean extra vacuuming!

    Colors

    • Solids: white, black, blue, red

    • Chinchilla silver and chinchilla golden

    • Classic tabby

    • Tortoiseshell

    • Chocolate-point.

    Note: There are many more recognized colors in the Persian class.

    Common Health Problems

    • The Persian's short nose can make upper respiratory infections worse.

    • Eyes need to be cleaned daily with a damp cotton swab.

    • Too much eye drainage may be sign of an infection.

    Persians make excellent pets, but they do need a lot of attention.
