    The beautiful colors of a calico's coat appeal to many cat-lovers.

    Calico cats, a variation of the common shorthair, are characterized by their colors, specifically orange. Almost all are females: male calicos, which are genetic defects, usually live no more than a few days past birth.

    • Loving

    • Hyperactive

    • Intelligent

    • Lazy

    Physical Characteristics

    • Long or short hair

    • Varying face shapes

    • Large, intensely colored eyes

    • Random coloring -- black, brown or red, and white; patches, almost solid, etc, -- with at least one spot of orange

    Notes:

    • Only calicos can have calicos.

    • They are a very healthy breed.
