    Iguanas like to climb.

Iguanas are becoming popular pets. They require little maintenance and actually enjoy human attention.

Iguanas can live as long as 15 years and reach 7 feet in length!

    What to Look For

    • Eyes open, clear, and bright

    • No nasal discharge

    • No abnormal skin discolorations

    • Thock tail

    • Pelvic bone not protruding

    • Light-green belly.

    Care and Maintenance

    • You should invest in a very large cage with a perch.

    • Iguanas need proper diet and environment. They should never eat dog food or cat food -- it's too high in protein. Ask your veterinarian for a specific diet plan.

    • Position basking lights over only part of the cage; otherwise the iguana may get too hot.

    • Handling your iguana daily will help make him calm.
